Getting Settled Into Our New Place

It isn’t easy moving a family of four (plus a dog) halfway across the country, especially when driving two cars in the southern part of the United States…in the summertime. It’s HOT down here y’all!

Our family just left our home in California, and now we are finally settled into a cozy apartment in Texas.  We’re going to stay here for a little less than 4 months, before making our final move to Maryland.

My classes here are going to be difficult and boring, but as long as I keep my nose clean and remember everything I’m taught, I’ll be able to graduate on time and move on.  The end goal is to make it to Maryland, buy a house, and finally settle for good.  I’m not sure yet if I plan on staying in the military, but either way I need to figure out a plan sooner rather than later.

I’ve been reading this book called “You Are A Badass” by Jen Sincero, and it’s really showing me how to find what I’m passionate about, and just go out and get it. It’s also showing me how to try my very best at whatever situation is handed to me, so it’s helping me as far as the military is concerned.  Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t really enjoy being in the military… I don’t do well with being told what to do constantly, and being categorized based on my rank.  You can do your very best every single day, but if you screw up once, forget it. All of those good things you’ve been doing have gone right out the window.

So what is it that I really want? Well, I want to do it all. Yeah, I love to do lots of things, which used to be a problem.  I like to crochet, sew, dumpster dive, save money, metal detect, thrift shop, you name it. I’m one of those people that just enjoy doing it all.  That being said, I think I’ve found that my passion is just doing it all.  You can’t make a living doing all of those things, especially as sporadically as I do them.  So I’ve decided to blog and vlog, but continue to do all of those things as often as I can or want. The kids started a YouTube channel, because that’s what they love to do.  I started a channel for my crochet, and am planning another channel and blog for personal finance and earning money doing side hustles. Also in the future, I plan on creating my own crochet patterns, and of course, continue to crochet, because let’s face it, that will always be my #1 favorite thing to do.

If I do decide to get out of the military at some point, I’ll earn an income by doing all of the things I love; crochet, blog, photo shoots, dog walking, all of it.  Thanks to this book, I’m realizing that as long as you try really really hard, don’t give up, and get off of your butt and put the work in, you can make your dreams a reality.  Who knows, maybe someday I’ll open the business I’ve always dreamed of.

Until then, I’ll enjoy the ride.

Thank you!! Sometimes it’s hard making decisions when family doesn’t agree with your choices. I’ve decided that I’m going to do what makes me happy (as long as my kids are taken care of too, of course).
