Welcome! Here’s What I’ve Been Up To

I’m so excited to be starting this leg of my crafty journey!

Creating has always been a huge part of my life, and now I’m finally able to share it with the world! I’ve always wanted to start a blog, but just never felt ready. Well, I’m ready now!

So here’s what I’ve been up to:

Recently I participated in a small craft show at a nearby elementary school.  It was my first show in a long time, and it went surprisingly well! My husband helped with the set up, and put up with all of the hours I had spent making new items. (husbands FTW) I made a couple hundred dollars, some new friends, and learned how to make Etsy sales in person. Woot!

The cool thing about this show, was that I was asked to crochet an orca as a fundraiser. How could I say no? The family was super excited to win, and apparently they have been going to that school for generations!

There seemed to be a couple mistakes in the pattern, but usually the answer was within the comments section. Overall, the pattern was pretty simple. It took a while to attach the underbelly, but it was worth it in the end. The tail fin was also a little strange to me, so I had to change a few things in the pattern. I MAY make this again in the future, if time ever allows. (It took me quite a while to make!)

(By the way, don’t mind the super ugly pictures. These were all taken on my phone. Santa brought me a shiny new camera this year, so hopefully the upcoming pictures will be much better)

Anywho,  after the show, I was asked by a dear friend to make 12 scarves to donate to an organization he participates in. He bought the yarn, and I went to work! I averaged about 1 scarf a day, which isn’t bad for someone who studies a language for 8 hours a day! It was really rewarding, but I was happy to weave in the last ends and switch to a different pattern for a while!

I was also busy with Christmas orders, then a good friend of mine wanted a gecko, so I got to work once again. This pattern was kind of a pain, mainly because I’m not used to making amigurumi this small. Usually I make them with a bigger hook, so it took some time for me to get a hang of making the tiny feet and tail. I opted out on the eyelids, and am quite pleased with the result! My friend seemed to like it too.

Now, all I’m doing is making hella scarves to restock my Etsy shop, and hopefully prepare for upcoming shows. (I’m loving this Mandala yarn by the way)

(No, I wasn’t paid by Lion Brand Yarn to post this. I wish though.)

So that’s pretty much it! I’ve finally recovered from the holidays, I’m back in school, and building my empire!
