I’m going to start out by being 100% honest; this isn’t a pattern that I would have normally purchased. First of all, it’s a devil (and as a Christian I normally wouldn’t search for something like this), and the colors are red and black, my least favorite color combo. However when someone asks me to make them something, I put my opinion aside and I make the things!
The person who contacted me already had a link to the pattern. She sent it to me asking if I could make it, so I told her that I would purchase the pattern that day and get started on it. (By the way, she was someone who worked in my company who learned about me from another custom order I had made from someone else!).
The price of the pattern at the time that I had purchased it was $5.50. That seemed like a pretty average price for an amigurumi pattern. The seller immediately sent me a message thanking me for my purchase and reminded me to contact her if I had any questions.
The doll itself took me longer to make than I would have liked, not because the pattern was difficult or anything like that, but because it was around Christmastime, and I had many orders to catch up on. Luckily for me, the buyer was really understanding and was so patient with me the whole time.
So how was the pattern?
The pattern overall was easy. At least for someone like me who mostly makes amigurumi and understands how they are supposed to work up. The English was a little broken, but not to the point where I had trouble understanding what the author was trying to say. I did struggle with getting the safety eyes to fit through the two pieces of eye layers, so I had to resort to crazy glue instead of using the back of the safety eye.
By the way, DO NOT do that unless you know the doll will be used strictly as decoration for an adult!
In the pattern she refers to her yarn as “big yarn” and “small yarn”. I think she meant medium weight and sport weight. However I used medium yarn throughout, and LOVED the size that it wound up being, which was slightly larger than hers.
I also used slightly different shades of the same colors in order to use up yarn that I already had on hand. The yarn I used was much softer than the yarn I typically use for my amigurumi, and I’m pleased with how soft the finished product was!
After I finished the devil I rated the seller 5 stars and added a picture. The seller messaged me thanking me for my feedback. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the pattern and the purchasing process, and would consider purchasing from her again!
